The Illustrated Eclipse of the Sun

Follow the links below to obtain video files containing 3D animations of various contemporary solar eclipses depicting the evolution of the shadow cone outlines on the surface of the Earth.
The videos were recorded from my EclipseView application – an interactive 3D planetary geometry viewer for the visualisation of shadow cone intersections between solar-system bodies. An Explanatory Supplement is available describing the basis of EclipseView and the meaning of the various data items on display.
Please note that the video files cannot be streamed from this server, so you must download each file completely before attempting to play it ("Save linked content as..." or your browser equivalent). All videos are H.264-encoded MP4 files, 1200x800@30fps, format profile: High 4:4:4 Predictive@L5.0. Not all video players can decode this high-profile pixel format. Recommended MP4 players are MPC-BE and VLC.
